Anza Borrego Wildflowers

Taken this morning at Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

I think the peak of the bloom will be next week. It seemed like the flowers weren't quite opened up yet though there is a fair amount already. Nothing can compare to the "100-year bloom" of 2005, but it's still good this year.

Yesterday, it was super crowded at the Visitor Center and at Palm Canyon. This location had a lot of people too last night but it's a wide open space so it wasn't so bad. Surprisingly, I was the only photographer there for sunrise this morning!

WOW! Nice color going on here.

Were you able to hook up with Ron? Did you go shooting together?

Looking forward to seeing more photos from this trip!

Thanks Sherri. Stay tuned for more.

I met up with Ron yesterday for lunch. I think his relatives came to visit so he had to go back afterwards.

Hey Richard,

Wow, you captured some great colors! Good job, you must have gotten up early coming from Indio!

It was great to meet you! Looks like I missed out on some nice light as I visited family and friends. I didn't shoot at all yesterday (Saturday), but I did finally get back out for 15 minutes right at sunset tonight.

Ron

Thanks Ron. I barely made it this morning. The alpenglow had already started by the time I got there. The landscape driving in was awesome!

Yeah it was cool to meet you for lunch. You didn't miss anything yesterday. it was really windy and non-stop dust storms.

You know I could see the dust blowing from where we meeting - that evening - that did make it easier to not be shooting. You made it for it the nest a.m.!

I don't know if you wear contact lenses, but it felt like my eyes were getting scratched by glass. And that was with sunglasses on. I actually tried going to Palm Canyon after lunch and wanted to spend the rest of the day there but they turned me back because of overflow.

Beautiful image Richard, the light and fg come together nicely, splendid work!!

BTW...The submission came out great they paid me a little more than when we started, I have already received the check..according to the calculator you sent me they still underpaid but they did come up and I learned a valuable lesson from all this.

Thanks for all your help I really appreciate it.

Thanks Bernie. No problem. I'm glad that you were happy with what you came away with. The calculators are just general guidelines but at least they were willing to work with you somewhat.

Wow you were turned away - the town was packed, but that is crazy - and too bad.

Yeah, I wear contacts. That dust is nasty, even with sun glasses, I pretty much just stay out of it when it starts blowing. I can't image what it does to my censor!

Let's just say that I went home happy after visiting Palm Canyon yesterday morning.

And I did change lenses twice in the dust storms. yikes!
