Green Not Brown

Lupine and Mustard Wildflowers, San Gabriel Mountains, California Picture: Lupine and Mustard Wildflowers, San Gabriel Mountains, California

There are a series of hills at the top of my street and once you get to the first ridge of the trail, you can get great views of the San Gabriel Mountains and valley. I have never seen it so green around here. Even without flowers, it would be very pretty. I didn't hike up to the top of the hills because dark thunderstorms were hovering in the area, but it was still a nice walk.

It's good to get out and enjoy nature's special moments while they happen because for the rest of the year it is brown in Southern California.

I didn't realize it was so rural where you live.

Enjoy the green!

Thanks Sherri. Well it is suburban where I live. There used to be agricultural crops grown here and horse ranches but it all got swallowed up by developers over time. Now Best Buy just opened a few months ago and a movie theatre is coming to town! :-o

Luckily there is a quick retreat to get up to the San Gabriel mountains or even the hills up the street. Though I have to admit, it is nice to have places nearby to shop now.

Beautiful image and subject Richard, it is nice to have civilization and wilderness close together sometimes.

Living here in Southern Indiana I get pretty much all I need, a lot of beautiful natural areas and Louisville is just big enough to find good place to eat and get out and do a few things :)

Thanks Bernie, I know what you mean. Clifty Falls is a little nicer to walk around than my hills but still better than nothing. For some reason I thought Madison was closer to Lexington, but I guess if you're going to Louisville that must not be the case.
